New Program Tries to Boost MU's Reputation and Stature
(2009-10-22)
(KBIA) - Six million dollars might seem like a lot of money, but that's the latest budget for a new program MU is trying to create. Three years after planning on how to improve MU's national reputation and stature, MU has revealed new details about a program called "Mizzou Advantage." The program focuses on five areas in which MU can stand out in the realm of higher education. The main focuses of the program are new media, human and animal health, food, sustainable energy and transformation technology. Provost Brian Foster says the money from the program will help MU stay competitive with other universities in the near future.

"This gives us the opportunity to move forward in five areas that are really at the core of what makes us matter in the world of research universities."

Foster also says money from the program will be set aside for additional faculty hires.
