Missouri Theatre Executive Director Resigns
COLUMBIA, MISSOURI
(KBIA) -
Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts Executive Director David White has resigned his post. White says he's come to the decision after eight-and-a-half years with the Missouri Theatre, because of the challenges of the economy, and to direct his creative energies toward more time with his family.
You know the economy hasn't been our best friend, and it's just been a wearing experience at points in time. And you know I've got a grandchild and one on the way and an 11-year-old and I just wanted to maybe, slow my life down a little bit.
White's retirement was given yesterday, the same day of an announcement that five local lenders had stepped in to assist the theatre in reaching a partial-settlement in a lawsuit with Huebert Builders. The contractor has been in a dispute with the theatre since last March, over bills resulting from the restoration of the historic theatre building. White says the dispute played no part in his decision to retire.
