The Central Missouri Humane Society has risen to the top of Zootoo.com's Million Dollar Makeover Competition. Currently ranked at number one, this week, the Central Missouri Humane Society, or CMHS, along with the other shelters in the top twenty, will receive a visit from Zootoo.com founder and CEO, Richard Thompson. Thursday, the CMHS is encouraging people to wear blue and stage themselves along Broadway in a human chain to welcome Thompson to Columbia. The shelter entered the contest in January ranked 859th. CMHS's Shelter Relations Coordinator, Heather Duren-Stubbs, says she never expected the shelter to break the top 100, but it is easy to see why they are in dire need of a makeover. null
"We have holes in our ceilings; we have a completely inadequate facility for the number of animals we take in every single day. The shelter is in huge disrepair and is quite literally falling in around us."
The final phase of the contest will be April 7 through the 24th, when Americans will be able to vote for the shelter of their choice to receive the million-dollar-makeover if they have a zootoo.com account.
