UM Board of Curators gives preliminary authority for furloughs
(2009-02-05)
(St. Louis Public Radio) - A committee of the University of Missouri Board of Curators has voted to give system president Gary Forsee the authority to furlough employees to save money.

Forsee will have to consult the board before requiring any employees to take time off. The authority will also expire at the end of June. Forsee says he will not use the authority unless the economic situation demands it

The measure must be approved by the full Board of Curators. The same committee also approved a procedure that employees who lose their jobs will use to get assistance. © Copyright 2012, St. Louis Public Radio
