Columbians Meet to Discuss Actions to Protest Controversial March
Many people at the meeting said the best way they can show the marchers that Columbia will not accept their views is to not attend the march.
Some expressed concern that people against the march might end up giving the demonstrators the attention they want, but Mayor Darwin Hindman says people should simply not attend.
"We're trying to get across that the way to defeat these people is to ignore them, and to let them have a flop...and then they won't be back."
One proposed idea to counter the march is an event in Douglass Park that would involve music, games and free food for young people. © Copyright 2012, KBIA
