Central Coast farmers are getting noticed by the federal government
(2007-08-08)
(kazu) - There's good news from Washington D.C. for Monterey Bay Area farmers. The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a farm bill that does something different.
In the past the federal farm bill has given money mainly to crops like corn, wheat and soy grown in the Midwest. Congress ignored fruit and vegetable growers in California. But for the first time local farmers are getting some help and they say it's about time.
