U.S. Attorney: No federal criminal charges in E. coli outbreak in spinach
(2007-06-22)
(kazu) - There will be no federal criminal charges filed in relation to last fall's big E. coli outbreak in spinach. Early last October, FBI and Food and Drug Administration agents had searched two Salinas-area companies, Natural Selection Foods and Growers Express, and several spinach fields in three local counties. On Thursday, the U.S. Attorney in San Francisco said he's ended the investigation. So with that chapter closed, we figured it's time to check in on where things stand on the outbreak and its aftermath.
