FDA: Leafy greens no safer today than 6 months ago
(2007-03-21)
(kazu) - It's been 6 months since last fall's E. coli outbreak in spinach sickened 200 people, killed three and crippled a major Monterey County industry. But as growers in the Salad Bowl of America start planting this year's spinach and lettuce crops, they face no mandatory good agricultural practices. Of course, that's not exactly what the Food and Drug Administration wants, so it held a public hearing Tuesday in Oakland to try and figure out what to do. KAZU's Rachael McDonald talks with KAZU's Ben Adler about the hearing. © Copyright 2009, kazu
