The deadline for senior and disabled homeowners to apply for the tax postponement program has been extended to March 7. . The Senior and Disabled Property Tax Postponement Pilot Program, which allows qualified low-income senior and disabled property owners to obtain loans to postpone the payment of their property tax bill, is being administered by the Housing Authority of Santa Cruz County. To qualify, a homeowner must meet the following criteria: „h Be at least 62 years of age, blind, or disabled; „h Own and occupy the property in unincorporated Santa Cruz County as his or her principal place of residence; „h Have a total household income of $35,500 or less; „h Pay an application fee of $200 at the time of application „h Have a maximum property tax bill of $7,985 for the installments due in December of 2012 and April of 2013; and „h Have at least 20% equity in the property. Applications and application instructions can be obtained on the Housing Authority website at or by calling the Housing Authority. Completed applications will continue to be received by the Housing Authority on a first come, first served basis through 5:00 p.m. |
