Marine Mammal CSI: What marine mammal strandings teach us about ocean and human health

Join Robin Dunkin, Ph.D., and explore what happens to a marine mammal carcass after it is taken off the beach, including a virtual tour of a marine mammal necropsy (animal autopsy). Through necropsies we discover clues about the cause of death and the unique physiology that allows these mammals to live in the ocean. Learn how marine mammal strandings are helping scientists to better understand the complex interactions between the health of our oceans, and ourselves, in this fun and interactive talk.
Robin Dunkin is part of the National Marine Mammal Stranding Network, a consortium of scientists, veterinarians, pathologists, and volunteers who respond daily across the country to marine mammal strandings.
