The Word

The Word
Each week on The Word presenter Harriett Gilbert meets novelists, poets, playwrights, screenwriters, copywriters and book-sellers as she looks at the myriad world of writing.

Latest Edition: Tuesday, October 7th

On the Word, Harriett Gilbert speaks to best selling travel writer Paul Theroux, who recently retraced the journey that made him famous in his book 'The Great Railway Bazaar'.

Harriett finds out what motivated him to follow in his own footsteps more than thirty years on.

The Word discusses an emerging trend: the use of bibliotherapy to expand the range of books on your shelf and to try to help you solve your life's problems through reading fiction.

We hear from a bibliotherapist, a journalist and a professor of literature who discuss whether books can act as therapy.
