St. Bernards will sponsor a Lunch & Learn on Friday, Aug. 8, that will focus on thyroid problems.
The program is entitled “Hypo and Hyperthyroidism” and will be presented by Dr. Francesca Wilkins, endocrinologist with St. Bernards Clopton Clinic. Endocrinologists deal with structure, function and diseases of the endocrine glands.
To include a free heart healthy, diabetic friendly light lunch, the program is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. and will be held in a conference room at St. Bernards Health & Wellness, 1416 East Matthews Ave.
Persons interested in attending must register by calling 870-207-4912 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org by Tuesday, Aug. 5.
From 7 until 10 in the morning on the same day, St. Bernards will offer free screenings at Health & Wellness. Those will include total cholesterol, anemia, glucose, blood pressure and body mass index.
Additional testing will be available for a minimal fee. Tests and their costs are full lipid panel (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides), $8.50; hemoglobin A1C (average blood sugar over three months), $6.50; and PSA (prostate specific antigen) for men 40 years of age and older, $12.50.
Fasting for lab testing is strongly encouraged for 6 to 8 hours before the lab draw to increase accuracy of test results.
The program is presented by St. Bernards Healthcare and Genentech.
