St. Bernards Sports Medicine will host its annual Coaches Clinic on Wednesday, July 16.
Planned for 1 to 8 p.m., the event will be held at St. Bernards Health & Wellness and is open at no charge to coaches of all types – current, volunteer or retired – who work with athletes of all age groups. The program will be limited to 50 participants.
Participants will have the opportunity to take cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) recertification instruction as well as attend a number of breakout sessions where they will learn about proper taping techniques, review appropriate concussion protocols, review common sports injuries and more.
Following a light dinner at 5:30, participants will hear speakers address a number of topics relevant for coaches. Presentations will include clinical neuropsychologist Dr. Dan Johnson who will talk about sports psychology, Arkansas State University attorney Lucinda McDaniel who talk about legal issues for coaches and others.
The Coaches’ Clinic will be limited to 50 attendees. Reservations are required, and the deadline for reservations is July 14. Interested coaches can make reservations by emailing Andy Shatley, director of Sports Medicine, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
