While the library is a very busy place during the summer, not all of the programming takes place inside the building. As part of the Summer Reading Club, the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library offers off-site programming Wednesdays in June and July at two locations. Programming will take place at the Parker Park Community Center located at 1522 North Church Street at 10 a.m. and the Mall at Turtle Creek located at 3000 East Highland Drive at 2 p.m. Each performer will have the same show at 10 a.m. that they have later in the day at 2 p.m. Families are welcome to come to either show - or both if they wish. The performances will begin on June 11th and run through July 23rd.
The first off-site performance will take place on Wednesday, June 11th. The featured performer at this event will be Eric Litwin, #1 New York Times Bestselling author of the first four Pete the Cat picture books and The Nuts! Litwin will sing and play the guitar at this event. A popular performing artist who tells musical stories and brings books to life, Eric is also a nationally respected keynote speaker on interactive literacy and music. He will also perform a new song from his new book The Nuts: Bedtime at the Nut House. The book will be released on July 29th! Litwin’s performance in Jonesboro is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. No video recordings can be made of this performance. Eric Litwin will only sign the first four Pete the Cat books. The books written by Litwin are: Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes, Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes, Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons, and Pete the Cat Saves Christmas. You can either bring your own copy or purchase a copy of the books from Barnes and Noble. Barnes and Noble will be on site selling copies of the four books writtten by Litwin. Pete the Cat will also make an appearance at the concert and will be available for pictures afterward. Parents, please bring your own camera.
