The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library’s free concert series kicks off on June 3rd and runs through June 24th. Every Tuesday night in June you can attend a free concert on the front lawn of the public library located at 315 West Oak Avenue. The bands playing this year include a wide variety of genres and age demographics.
The second concert on the lawn will be held on Tuesday, June 10th at 6:30 p.m. and will feature the Jonesboro band Natural State Revival. This band consists of three members: Matt Pierce, Oz Cullum and Jess Hoggard. The band plays roots rock and roll music, which is music that goes back to the origins of rock music.
On June 17th the Vikki McGee Band will take center stage at the third concert on the lawn. This band has been a staple in the library concert series for many years. Vikki says her favorite type of music is rhythm and blues. The final band of the summer concert series will be the Callie MaRae Band. 17-year-old Callie MaRae is the lead singer of the band that also includes Jim Little and Alex Holeman. This band plays acoustic alternative music. MaRae lists her influences as ZZ Ward, Adele, Jack White and others. Each of the four concerts are sponsored by Andy’s Frozen Custard. Free custard cups will be given out during all four concerts. Happy Poppers popcorn will be handing out kettle corn at the concerts on June 3rd and June 17th. In order to get a cup of custard or a bag of popcorn you must come by the library tent and pick up ticket to exchange for the free giveaways. The library will also provide ice cold bottled water and some seating. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and sit back and enjoy the music. The concerts will be an hour long each night from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

The library staff understands that sometimes the kiddos get bored at events like the concerts so at 7:00 p.m. the Children’s Library will offer “Family Tuesday Nights.” At these events, children up to 12-years-old are welcome to come into the building and do a craft. For more information on this event or other events that take place inside the public library you can go to www.libraryinjonesboro.org or call 870-935-5133.
