ACT 2!, a local theatre group in Blytheville, Arkansas, is holding play auditions for the comic Western “Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch or The Perfumed Badge” for actors between the ages of 18 and 65. Auditions will be held Thursday and Friday, January 9 and 10, 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday, January 11, 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Ritz on Main in Downtown Blytheville. “Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch or The Perfumed Badge” is a rip-roaring, pistol packing comedy that is for young and old alike. Join our lady sheriff, Willie Lovelace, as her heart battles her head as she searches for true love among mistaken identities. Battle the bad hearted Widow Black as she tries to take control of Roaring Gulch and those that live there. You can cheer and root for Martha Muldoon as she stumbles across her long lost love.
“Blazing Guns at Roaring Gulch or The Perfumed Badge”, is written by Shubert Fendrich and is being produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., Englewood, Colorado. Auditioners will be asked to cold read from the script, but if you happen to be musically inclined, bring your instrument and you can audition for the Roaring Gulch Saloon Band, the best little band this side of the Pecos!
The cast of characters are: Willie Lovelace, the sweet and pretty Lady Sheriff; Barney Black, the Good-natured desk clerk and stepson of Widow Black; Bill Filbert, a stage-struck cowboy and sidekick of Snipe Vermin; Snipe Vermin/Harry Heartstone, a Western desperado and/or his handsome identical twin who happens to be a Pinkerton detective; Widow Black, the Evil proprietress of Roaring Gulch Hotel with a diabolical laugh; Martha Muldoon, an actress residing at Roaring Gulch Hotel; Colonel Crabtree, A Travelling Showman; Flora and Dora, who are Colonel Crabtree’s showgirls.
