Want to learn the identification and age of an artifact? Professional archaeologists will be on hand to do just that when Arkansas State University Museum and the Arkansas Archaeological Survey host “Archaeology Day Meets Tinkerfest” Saturday, March 16.

This free archaeological event will be held in the Museum atrium and main gallery, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Museum is located at 320 University Loop West Circle.

Special activities will include the identification of Native American pottery, stone tools, and stone points by professional archaeologists. The purpose of the identification is to learn more about the age, function, and cultural meaning of objects that have been found throughout our region.

Please note that the archaeologists will not appraise nor perform conservation. Bring any artifacts—this is a great opportunity to learn about the people who lived here hundreds, or even thousands of years ago.

In the Main Gallery, join the Tinkerfest fun and learn first hand how treasured artifacts were made.

The ASU Museum supports lifelong learning and encourages families to play together and learn together. For information on birthday parties, visit http://museum.astate.edu. Regular hours are Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free, although donations are accepted.
