Wildlife Tracks in the Bosque
General Event Information
Event Category:
Classes/Workshops
Price:
Free
Dates and Times:
August 23, 9:00AM-11:00AM

A short walk along the Bosque trail with certified wildlife track and sign researcher, Peter Callen, will open up a world of life that often remains quietly hidden. The "tracks of the day" will first be identified by participants, followed by lively discussions of which animals live in the Bosque. Guests will "see" who lives there by the tracks and signs left on the ground, in the trees and stems, and along the river's edge in this look into the stories beneath our feet.

To register, please call 505-897-8831.

Peter Callen has been leading wildlife track and sign monitoring teams throughout central NM for the past 4 years. Monthly monitoring continues along Las Huertas Creek and along I-25 north of Bernalillo. Also, Peter is currently leading a team of volunteers in a Black Bear population survey conducted by an NMSU graduate student. This project draws on many volunteers from the Sandia Mt. Black Bear Collaborative, a multi-agency and NGO collaborative working to gather better information on our Sandia Mt. Black Bear population.
