School Days at the Texas Renaissance Festival
(2007-07-12)
(kamu) - For two days in October the Texas
Renaissance Festival will open its gates for the third annual School Days. This
interactive learning experience is exclusively for school children, educators, and homeschoolers. This opportunity will afford the students a firsthand view of what life was like during the Renaissance Period.
Technological advances and discoveries of the Renaissance Age will be illustrated through demonstrations in pottery, glass blowing, blacksmithing, armor making, and other diverse arts and trades. Students will meet the Kings and Queens of three countries, William Shakespeare, and Spanish Conquistadors. They will enjoy jousting and period dances with King Henry VIII and his Queen. Students can visit a working reproduction of the Guttenberg Printing Press and a 16th century coin mint. Hawks soar as The Royal Falconer demonstrates The Sport of Kings . School Days at the Festival will present students with the achievements of a time period unparalleled in its zeal for knowledge.
Reservations are requested, but not required. Reserved admission for
students, as well as chaperones and educators, is $6.00. Gate pricing for tickets will be $8.00 for all. A lunch ticket will also be available for $8.00 during reservation times as well as at the Box Office on School Days. The last day to purchase tickets for the reduced price is October 1, 2007.
October 23rd will be for students K-6, and October 24th for students 7-12.
These two fun filled days are geared specifically for students. All festival events, shows, and activities will be both educational and entertaining. Students, teachers, chaperones, and home-schoolers are encouraged to come in costume.
