Help support KAMU
Recently, several of our friends in the Brazos Valley Young Lawyer's Association volunteered to assist KAMU with its television pledge drive. The hard-working KAMU staff brings to our community quality family programming from the Public Broadcasting Service, Public Radio International and independent producers. The cost of such broadcasting is on the rise and KAMU depends on the generosity of local supporters in order to keep the lights on.
When we took to the airwaves on Monday night, our goal was $2,500, which seemed impossible at the beginning. However, this quickly became an afterthought thanks to the overwhelming response of so many giving individuals.
Criminal defense lawyers, civil attorneys, elected officials, doctors, prosecutors, businesspersons and others opened their pocketbooks to help this worthy cause. At the end of the night, we had pledges totaling nearly $4,000.
Callers expressed all sorts of kind remarks about both the quality KAMU programming and its exceptional staff. Beth Ann Thibodeaux and numerous other donors told us to keep up the good work. Heck, Jay Granberry, former candidate for judge, even said that Sesame Street made him the man that he is today.
Please join us in giving a well-deserved pat on the back to the KAMU staff and all of those who pledged their support.
