NEW PARTNERSHIP Between KAMU-FM And KTRL
(2010-08-23)
Coverage area for KTRL Radio
(kamu) - KAMU FM 90.9 at Texas A&M University will begin providing programming to Tarleton State Public Radio (KTRL 90.5 FM) in Stephenville, Texas on Monday, August 23, 2010.

Dr. Rodney L. Zent, Executive Director of Educational Broadcast Services at Texas A&M University stated:

"This project is a natural extension of the Texas A&M University System's mission of Public Service. KAMU at Texas A&M University is utilizing our TTVN network to deliver programming to Tarleton State University. We are doing this to help start that university's newly acquired FM station, KTRL. This addition of NPR programming in the Stephenville area is an example of the cost effectiveness of combining resources within the TAMU System. We welcome listeners in both Stephenville and College Station to provide comments about this joint programming venture."

This partnership will provide NPR programming to listeners in Stephenville, Grandbury, Glen Rose, Meridian, Dublin, Hamilton, Hico, Comanche, Cleburn, and DeLeon.

Penny Zent, station manager of KAMU-FM, commented: "We began exploring a way to bring NPR news and public affairs programming to Tarleton State University over 10 years ago. TSU was recently the recipient of a radio license which made this all possible. By utilizing the TTVN network as a delivery system, the dream has finally become a reality. KAMU-FM is very happy to be part of this partnership and we look forward to working with the staff at KTRL in Stephenville."
