H1N1 Flu Vaccine
The Brazos County Health Department continues to receive limited supplies of the H1N1 flu vaccine. The vaccine
will be administered for free at the Brazos County Health Department on Friday, October 30, 2009 beginning at
8:00 am. Due to the limited amount of vaccine, the vaccine will be administered according to the following
criteria:
50 doses for pregnant women; and
250 doses of Flu Mist:
o Person must be between the ages of 2-49 years old;
o Person cannot suffer from asthma or be immuno-compromised; and/or
o Person must still be eligible according to the initial priority groups:
Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel;
Household contacts for children younger than 6 months of age; and/or
All people 2 years through 24 years of age.
The Brazos County Health Department will send out more information about future clinics as more vaccine is
available at a later date.
Healthcare providers in Brazos County have begun to receive the H1N1 vaccine as well. The public is encouraged
to contact their primary healthcare provider to determine availability.
The Department of State Health Services expects to receive larger inventories of vaccine by mid-November for
widespread distribution across the state. In the meantime, the health department is urging providers and the public
to be patient and to follow flu prevention practices.
