The Grammy-nominated quintet Imani Winds has established itself as one of the most successful chamber music ensembles in the United States. With the help of two member composers, the quintet is bridging European, American, African and Latin American traditions. Quintet members Valerie Coleman and Jeff Scott regularly create compositions and arrangements in order to expand the groupís repertoire, adding new sounds and textures to its traditional instrumentation.
The group's touring schedule has led them across the globe. While traveling across the United States, the Imani Winds has played in the nation's major concert venues, such as Carnegie Hall, and in virtually every major university performing arts series. The concerts have been described by listeners as "intense, dynamic and wildly colorful."
