Idaho Budget Shortfall
Samantha Wright (2008-09-18)
BOISE, ID (idaho) - As the U-S economy sinks, Idaho is feeling the pinch. Governor Butch Otter is warning state officials and department heads to prepare for a 5.9 percent projected budget shortfall over the next nine months. He's asked agency leaders to craft new budgets, reflecting cuts of one, two or even two and a half percent. Boise State Radio's Samantha Wright talked with the State's Budget Director, Wayne Hammond, for a quick course in Budget Holdbacks. He explains what a 5.9 percent shortfall really means.
