Idaho Volunteers Head To Gustav
Samantha Wright (2008-09-02)
Hurricane Gustav
BOISE, ID (idaho) - Red Cross volunteers from Idaho are among the people helping in the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav. Sue Robinson with the Red Cross of Greater Idaho says trained volunteers from the Gem State have been deployed to the Gulf Region. Robinson says more volunteers may be dispatched this week and will stay in the Gulf Region for three weeks.

Gustav hit land Monday and is blamed for eight deaths. Robinson says lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina are making it easier to coordinate relief for Gustav. Robinson credits Idaho's response to its many volunteers, who make up more than ninety percent of the state's Red Cross workforce. To volunteer or donate, contact the American Red Cross of Greater Idaho at 1-800-853-2570.
