Frustration led to a whistleblower's allegations
George Prentice (2008-08-07)
BOISE, ID (idaho) - While taxpayers and state officials await the results of an independent review of the Idaho Tax Commission, a whistleblower continues to speak out. Two months ago, commission auditor Stan Howland (like Holland) alleged his agency was settling tax protests in an improper manner, costing Idaho millions of dollars. Senator Brent Hill of Rexburg, chairs the Senate local government and taxation committee. He was initially taken aback by some of Stan Howland's accusations. I was disappointed in his use of some words. For instance, his use of the word illegal' and things like that Hill said. But he also was disappointed in how quickly Tax Commissioners denied the allegations. Up until now, Stan Howland has been quoted in the media, but hasn't sat down for a radio interview. Boise State Radio's George Prentice caught up with the Howland at a Boise coffee shop to discuss why he went public with his allegations. © Copyright 2009, idaho
