New pollution standards announced last week by the Environmental Protection Agency could spell environmental trouble for the Treasure Valley. If the new standards were imposed today, the Boise area could be declared a non-attainment area. Late last week, a committee in the Idaho Senate approved a bill that could help Idaho avoid EPA sanctions. It would authorize Idaho Air Quality officials to impose a mandatory vehicle inspection program on areas that are close to violating federal air quality standards.Boise State Radio's Don Wimberly talked with Peter O'Neil, the Chairman of the Treasure Air Quality Council, about the new EPA pollution standards........
