FREE PROGAM TO HELP LOCAL CANCER PATIENTS LOOK GOOD, FEEL BETTER Women participants receive free make-up kits and learn beauty techniques to help cope with physical side effects of cancer treatment
The American Cancer Society will host a Look Good…Feel Better® workshops in Garden City for area women battling cancer. The free program, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, National Cosmetology Association and the Personal Care Products Council Foundation provides a high-quality make-up kit and teaches beauty techniques to female cancer patients in active treatment to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.
The workshop will be held on August 11th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at The Breast Center at St. Catherine Hospital, Legacy House-Resource Room, 309 East Walnut. Pre-registration is required by calling 620-640-1022.
During each session, trained cosmetologists teach cancer patients how to cope with skin changes and hair loss by using cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry. The free cosmetic kits are valued at $250 each and are available in light, medium, dark, and extra-dark shades. Women learn how to disguise hair loss with wigs, scarves, and other accessories, how to create the impression of having eyebrows or eyelashes, and how to take care of skin damaged by cancer treatments.
