When you wake up in the morning you are probably thinking about that cup of hot, delicious coffee that you are going to drink. But, have you ever thought about the history of coffee or who grows, ships, roasts and serves the coffee? PPHM and Palace Coffee Co. will present Coffee Talk, a program on the history of coffee featuring several coffee samples on Saturday, November 9th from 2-4pm.
Patrick Burns of Palace Coffee Co. will discuss the history of coffee from the first cup to cowboy coffee to the multiple roasts and flavors available today. Burns will also talk to visitors about the politics and economics of coffee and what the Thrive Coffee Farmers co-op is doing to help farmers in countries such as Costa Rica and Ethiopia. Burns will be joined by Roman Leal from Evocation Coffee to partake in the discussion. After the talk, Burns and Leal will offer visitors samples of several different kinds of coffee for visitors to try and discuss.
The event will be held in the PPHM Derrick Room on the first floor of the museum. The event is free with purchase of museum admission. As always, museum members and West Texas A&M faculty, staff, and students receive free admission with their ID cards.
