The 2014 Cinema by the Canal summer outdoor film series concludes with “Jumanji” on Thursday, August 28 at the Lewes Canalfront Park. This film series for all ages is sponsored by the Rehoboth Beach Film Society and Friends of Lewes Canalfront Park.
“Jumanji” is an action packed thriller featuring a potentially lethal board game, that when played, has real life consequences. When young Alan Parrish discovers it, he doesn't realize its powers until he is magically transported--before the startled eyes of his friend Sarah--into the untamed jungles of Jumanji. Sarah runs screaming from the house and Alan is never seen again. Twenty-six years later, two young children, Judy and Peter, find the game, roll the dice and release Alan from his prison. Now all three must finish the game and find themselves encountering huge rhinoceroses, evil monkeys, vicious lions and all sorts of terrifying jungle beasts. Based on the award-winning picture book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg, “San Francisco Examiner” writer, Walter Addiego states that “The result is a thrill ride with enough plunges and turns and loop-the-loops to make it worth a spin.”
