WSCL's Classical Music Director, Kara Dahl Russell presents a program about the development and history of one of the oldest instruments in the world, the harp. Through selections of music and some song, she traces the growth of the repertoire and uses of the Harp. Using 3 harps of different size, structure and tonality, Kara also demonstrates how the "preferred sound" of music has changed through time. The program includes a variety of works, from ancient to modern, composers including Handel, St. Georges (known as "the black Mozart"), and Borodin.

This program is provided free to the general public, sponsored by The Friends of the Newark Free Library.
